I felt little baby Delski for the first time on Monday night. My doctor told me to expect to feel the first movements between 15-18 weeks. I have been trying to pay attention for them, but the little guy or gal is still so small that it has been hard to distinguish what is actually the baby and what is my imagination. I have heard to look out for flutters, bubbles or hiccup-like feelings. I have been trying so hard to feel it, but that baby is playing hide-and-seek.
This past week I have noticed a new sleeping pattern for me. I constantly wake up in the middle of the night and have a hard time falling back asleep. A lot of this is just discomfort already with my hips and back; I think it is time to invest in a body pillow. However, on Monday night I woke up at 3:30 am. I was just lying on my side and wide awake listening to Brett snore when I felt the first little movement. It was very distinct, and definitely not something my body can do on its own! The best way to describe how it felt was like little butterfly kisses to the inside of my lower belly. It was so precious, I almost cried and woke Brett up. But I was able to fall back asleep after trying to wait for another one for half an hour. Of course this means that we might be having a night owl baby! Here's to sleepless nights starting in October.
It is still early to be feeling the baby consistently, but I am always waiting for the next movement. I haven't felt anything since that night, but I am hoping to feel more definite kicks and movements within the next couple weeks. Hopefully Brett can feel it too.
